How to Revive Old Weave & Extensions – 5 Easy Step

Every loss is painful, but losing your favourite hair can blow your fuse. Is that weave tangled, matted, dusty, dirty, and damped? Well, do not discard it yet. Guess what? You can give it life again! You can rock it again! This article will teach and help you revive old weave and extension so you can use it again and save you some money.

Why is My Hair Ugly?

New hair comes with fresh cuticles intact and fully seal. It has not come in contact with chemicals from hair products yet, neither has it been exposed to heat. Hence the glow you see.

Furthermore, once the hair is exposed to products like Coloring, Conditioners, Shampoo, Hot Curlers, Combs, and other liquid or solid hair tools etc. The cuticle begins to depreciate leaving you eventually with a hair that looks messy and ugly.

The pH of your hair also diminishes when exposed to chemicals and heat transmitting appliances in the saloon.

Poor handling also result in a terrible looking hair. If you have bought that beautiful hair, do well to take care of it by using hair friendly products. Natural hair products are always best for hair maintenance. There are a lot of them in the market.

5 Easy Steps to Revive Old weave & Extension

  1. Detangle the Weave

To begin to revive old weave, you have to detangle the weave first. Extreme care should be applied while detangling the weave to avoid ripping the weave apart. Depending on how badly tangled the weave is, apply a little hair oil or shampoo to weave: it will give a slip effect and help ease the detangling process.

Use Extra Virgin Olive Oil for this. Comb the old weave from the tail to the top of the weave. Starting from the top to tail will rip your hair from the weft.

  1. Soak In Apple Cidar Vinegar + Water

Progress to revive old weave, dilute Apple Cider Vinegar in water and mix properly in a large bowl. For the Quantity of Apple Cider Vinegar to be used, I recommend you use one part apple cider vinegar to three parts water.

Submerge the hair in the mixture of ACV and water for about 45 to 60 minutes. ACV works as a cleansing agent on the weave. It will reseal the cuticles of your hair because the pH balance is lower than the pH balance in the weave. Apple Cider Vinegar will rejuvenate your hair by instantly restoring the pH level of your hair.   ACV will not only clean the hair, it will clean the weft too.

Note:  If you are currently wearing the hair you want to revive, simply put the mixture of ACV and water in a spray bottle and apply it on the hair and leave it there for 45 to 60 minutes. Ignore the smell as it will diminish once you rinse the hair.

  1. Rinse the Hair

After the specified soaking time has elapsed, wash off the ACV mixture from the hair. Please do well to wash the hair with caution. Do not scrub like you would normally do when washing your cloth as it will only result in tangling. You can hold the hair from the top under a running tap to give it a top to bottom rinse.

Next, apply shampoo to completely clean the weave and restore it to its former beauty and glamour. I recommend that you use Gentle Suave Clarifying Shampoo for this purpose. It is cheap, effective and can be found in the store next door. While applying the shampoo you will probably notice some brown colouring on the weave, it is a good sign: that is proof that the remaining buildup is being removed.

Give the weave a rinse.  Shampoo the weave one more time with Silicon Mix. Silicon Mix works as the final revamp for your hair. You can say it is a weave defibrillator. Shampoo/soak the weave and rinse when done.  Watch the beautiful of your hair come alive.

If you are wearing the hair, simply apply the conditioner, put on a plastic shower cap and let it dry. You can also use a hair dryer for faster heat penetration in the hair.
